We are seeking aPayment PostingSpecialistwho will be responsible for maintaining theaccuracy and timely accounting of incoming and outgoing paymentsfor departmental and payer lockboxes and revenue accounts. Dutiesinclude preparation, processing, posting and reconciling to sourcedocuments. This staff member will be responsible for researchingsuspense and canceled checks, as well as various other cash relatedduties.

Specific Duties &Responsibilities

Procedural Knowledge

  • Sort Lockboxes; flag EFT monies.
  • Post payments and rejections (manual &electronic) in Epic.
  • Posts Time of Service, credit card depositsand journal vouchers to the Epic system.
  • Interacts with clinic and billing officestaff.
  • Post auto self-pay file.
  • Obtains documentation, organizes, preparesand posts negative remittances from third party payers continuingto track until resolved.
  • Reconciles source document totals to Epicdaily.
  • Initiates paperwork for misdirected andincorrect payments and forwards to refunds.
  • Researches canceled checks to determinedestination and procures misdirected payments.
  • Initiates paperwork and the necessaryback-up documentation for journal voucher transfers.
  • Moves payments to pending balances inmultiple groups on the Epic system.
  • Accurately maintains online RefundDistribution Sheets.
  • Completes month-end closing.

Technical Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge and compliance ofHIPAA rules and regulations in the dissemination of patientProtected Health Information (PHI).
  • Working knowledge of JHU/ PBS BillingApplications.
  • Provides feedback regarding problems tomanagement.

Education and ExperienceEquivalency
